The Wycombe-Risborough turnpike road was set up in 1795, a new section from Terrick to Stoke Mandeville was added in 1822, and a branch from Princes Risborough to Thame was added in 1825.

Description

The Wycombe-Risborough section was set up in 1795 with a new section from Terrick to Stoke Mandeville in 1822 (completed 1827). In 1825 a branch was added from Princes Risborough via Longwick to Thame. There were gates at West Wycombe (SU 834947), Monks Risborough by the 9th Milestone (SP 813043), and at Little Kimble at the A4010 junction with the Lower Icknield Way (SP 823070). There was a toll house near Little Kimble church. In 1827 a gate was erected at Terrick (SP 840082). Longwick gate was first recorded in April 1826. In 1845 tolls were taken at Kingsey gate. These gates are not on the OS map. In 1871 all gates and toll houses were sold by auction for £108.10s (B1).
