Description
Probable eighteenth to nineteenth century milestone on A4129 east of Kingsey village. On Milestones Society website as present in 2003 on Thame to Risborough route National ID number BU_THR103. On south side of road. 30cm wide, 30cm deep, 106cm high.' By Whirlbush Farm on grass verge. Crudely painted edge on to road '. Inscription: front: 'Oxford 16 THAME 3'. In handwritten notes under ' J5 Milestones on Ground'. NGR 763 066 Aston Sandford ( opp Whirlbush Farm ). No number on 1" OS 1835 . Poor state: stone milestone: Facing 2 ways: No original marks. Painted on Oxford 16/ Thame 5 ( opp Whirlbush Farm) shape as NGR 779 061. Sketch annotated NGR 779 061. Square stone milestone facing 2 ways: painted on letters. Sloping top for drainage. Thame 5 and Oxford 16 on L. [ Handwrtten notes with sketch consulted ] (B2).
