Acording to Peter Gulland in his extensive study The Toll Roads of Buckinghamshire 1706-1881 with their connections into neighbouring counties this was on The Princes Risborough and Thame Turnpike Road 1795 p,241 road 19. It had 3 branches from Terrick to Worlds End Wendover now B4009 and Princes Risborough to Thame which this milestone was on following mostly A4129 and West Wycombe Road to Cressex Road following A4010 in High Wycombe in Risborough it folllowed the High Street. Which this milestone was on. In Risborough the southern exit was was via Bell Sreet right angled junction. They worked with enclosure comissioners which was unusual. Most primitive milestones in Bucks 10 and half by 11 and half inches in cross section and square to the roads. No two the same painted white or town names milaege in black facing road. 9 survive out of 13 on Risborough Road and 5 out of 7 on Thame branch. After the trusts wound up in 1870s or !880s milemarkers on some roads were were replaced with what the the Milestones Society calls Bucks Pressings standard metal posts with white faces and black paint mileage. During the second world war milemakers were buried or taken away for securuity sometimes not put back.
