This is on road 19 p 241 The Princes Risborough and Thame Turrnpike Road 1795. It had the most primitive milestones in Bucks no two were the same there were 5 left on the on Thame branch out of 7and 9 out of 13 left on Risborough branch. Simple rectangles of stone with black paint incriptions. It had 3 branches from Terrick to Worlds End Wendover today the B4009 the other branch from Prices Risborough to Thame in Oxfordshire mostly A4129 today and from West Wycombe to Cressex Rod follows A4010. When the paint wore off inscriptions were lost. Main route started junction of Station Road and Wendover Road Stoke Mandeville to Pedestal roundabout West Wycome.Total of 19 1/2 looked under by same trust. Until 1825 to1830 when split into 3 branches each with own surveyor until Thame branch finished when back to one. The road was staightened at Askett in 1803-05 replacement for less drect old road to SE built by trust. There was 1 1/2 miles in Oxfordshire.During WW2 milemarkers were removed or buried someimes not put back or in wrong place. According to PG this one of 116 modern records out of a posible 230 from historic sources. When the trusts closed in 1809s or 1890s on some roads missing milemarkers were replaced with what The Milestones Socity called Bucks Pressings standadised metal posts with two white face and black lettering.
