A rectilinear ditched enclosure of probable Iron Age or Roman date is visible on historic aerial photographs as cropmarks and was mapped as part of the North Buckinghamshire Aerial Investigation and Mapping project (EBC18304).

Possible Roman settlement recorded in watching brief - A partial excavation in 1967 revealed a large depression and two ditches. The former may be the site of a Roman building or villa which was occupied during the 2nd century. Pottery was found.
