SEEN. ROOF TILE & POTTERY FOUND. GROUND NOW MADE UP, ROMAN FEATURES UNDISTURBED BUT FOR A DRAINAGE DITCH. Partial excavation by R Griffiths in 1967 revealed a large depression c 30' wide and c 5' deep and two ditches c 10' wide and 5' deep. The depression may have been the base for a building; building stone and tegulae were found at both ends of the depression suggesting walling. A small building, frequently flooded by the nearby stream and occupied for only a short period in the 2nd C (finds evidence) is indicated. NGR- EXCAV CENTRE (B1,B2, B3).

The location description, and Griffith's siting on the Bradwell Abbey Field Centre 6" indicates the excavation was centred at SP 84853237. This siting is confirmed by D C Mynard who has knowledge of the excavation (B5).
