Monument record: 0086900000 N OF YEWDEN (Monument)Cropmarks of a probable Roman settlement identified from aerial photographs as part of the RCHME Thames Valley NMP in 1993. The settlement was located in a valley, situated between Hambleden and the River Thames. It was also accompanied by a field system, trackway and a road. The buildings included a possible temple or shrine situated next to another building of some importance. The settlement may have been associated with Hambleden villa complex to the west (SU 78 NE 5; CAS00868) and the villa at Mill End. (SU 78 SE 4; 00788).Two possible Roman enclosures and trackway seen as cropmarks on aerial photographs and confirmed by geophysical surveys.
