Description

No remains of the buildings where Sir Henry Lee entertained Queen Elizabeth I in 1592. Lee built a large mansion here, pulled down partly c.1666 & partly in 1713. Some timber work in Church Farm may belong to it (B1-2,B5-6).
Mansion (1560) entrenched behind a big earthen wall (01:001)(B3-4).
At NGR (B11).
Reinterpretation of earthworks following RCHME topographical survey, Sir Henry Lee's mansion no longer thought to have occupied this particular site, now purely formal water garden related (B18).
