1 Where can I find historical and archaeological information?

This gazetteer of resources is a guide to material you will want to look at if you are doing a history or archaeology project, or a more focussed Village Appraisal or Design Statement. It will be a useful reminder of which institutions to go to find certain types of source. Of course, an obvious place to start is your local museum or library.

Read down the table from the headings below to find out which sources will be useful to consult for each type of project. At the bottom there are suggestions of which institutions would be best to consult in each case, in order of relevant information held.

Click on any text in red to find out more about doing that kind of project, more about the source and what it can be useful for or more about what the institution has in their collections.
