Description
ARTEFACTS FOUND DURING WORKING OF BRICKEARTH & UNDERLYING GRAVEL. FOUND BY A D LACAILLE OVER MANY YEARS, STARTING IN 1926 WHEN PIT FIRST OPENED. ARTEFACTS OF BOTH ACHEULIAN & LEVALLOISIAN TYPES FOUND. FINDS IN GRAVEL 01:001-008; TOP OF GRAVEL 01:011-01 2; RED BRICKEARTH 01:101-2; GREY BRICKEARTH 01:201-2 (B6-8).
Site mentioned in English Rivers Palaeolithic Survey, pit levelled, Levallois artefacts from overlying Brickearth (B11-12).
