Description

Building recording carried out in April 2009 by Archaeological Services and Consulting in advance of proposed redevelopment of farmstead as an archive research centre. Most of the farm buildings had been previously demolished and it was only possible to record the two remaining buildings. The farmstead originally comprised a group of farm buildings arranged around three sides of a rectangular farmyard, with the detached farmhouse about 15m to the NE. The farm is shown on maps from 1776 onwards and trade directories and estate records have details of the tennant farmers from 1851 onwards. The farm buildings may have been rebuilt in the late nineteenth century (see report for details (B1).
