Late 17th century and mid 18th century landscape park at Fawley Court. Lodges are present to the north west and south west of the house and a walled kitchen garden to the north west. The eastern boundary of the park is formed by the River Thames. Dates of late 17th or early 18th century gardening is uncertain, however it is thought the terraces north, east and south of the house and traces of avenues may be part of a formal layout dating to this period. A canal flanked by trees is present to the east of the house. Capability Brown was involved with the landscaping during the early 1770s, however the precise details of his work is uncertain. In 1771 a menagerie and a diary were documented together with a grotto. The grounds also include Temple Island, an island in the River Thames northwest of the house. It contains the Fishing Temple which was constructed in 1771. (B50).
Landscape park, pleasure grounds and gardens to Fawley Court. The pleasure grounds were created during the 1730s by John Freeman possibly advised by Edmund Waller and John Aislabie. From the 1760s the grounds were enlarged and included work by Lancelot Brown in the 1770s. Further alterations took place in the late 19th century and in the 20th century. (B51).
