Description

ACCOUNT OF LILLINGSTONE LOVELL ALIAS LILLINGSTONE DAUNCY MANOR & OF THE WENTWORTH FAMILY 1552-1784 (B1).
PRE-1066 AZOR HELD 2.5 HIDES OF LAND WHICH BY 1086 HAD COME TO BENZELINUS. HELD LATER BY ST MARTIN FAMILY. LATER HELD BY CHAWORTH, DANSEY, LOVEL, WENTWORTH, DELAP FAMILIES (B2).

This area was assessed as part of the North Buckinghamshire Aerial Investigation and Mapping project (EBC18304) and the features mapped are recorded in MBC1140. (14).



(SP 712398) The remains of a homestead moat and fish ponds S of Lillingstone House doubtless mark the site of the former 17th century hall. (The moat and fishponds are shown on the original OS 1" (1820-30) (B2 and B17).
Depressions indicating dry ponds and part of a moat (B15).
An elaborate series of dry fishponds, one moatlike, represent the remains of a manorial settlement with disturbed pasture centred at SP 712398. Lillingstone Hall is externally modernised, but contains building of many periods. The fishponds are adjacent to a S flowing brook and a now dry supply channel which formerly extended from circa SP 71123982 to circa SP 71203961. Surveyed at 1:2500 (B16).
