Description

CHARTER OF INCORPORATION OF THE TOWN OF AYLESBURY (1554) MENTIONS 'STANNE BRIDGE' (STONE BRIDGE) AS BEING ON ONE OF THE CORPORATION BOUNDARIES. IT IS SOMETIMES CALLED 'GALLOWS BRIDGE' (B1).
A 'STONY LAYER' NEAR THE BRIDGE MAY BE THE BED OF AN OLD FORD (B2).
