GROTTO, PROBABLY BUILT LATE C18 OF MATERIAL FROM THE CHANCEL OF THORNTON PARISH CHURCH (BI1). (CHANCEL WAS PULLED DOWN 1780 - SEE CASS 5179). GROTTO WAS RUINOUS & OVERGROWN BY 1947(BI1).
