BEFORE CONQUEST BELONGED TO THE PRIORY OF ST FRIDESWIDE. 1086 AMONGST LANDS OF THE CANONS OF OXFORD. GOODWINS HELD MANOR C16-MID C17. 1643 ARTHUR GOODWIN DIED LEAVING ONLY DAUGHTER JANE, WIFE OF PHILIP LORD WHARTON AS HEIR. 1723 BOUGHT DUKE OF MARLBOROUGH. 1874 PASSED TO BARON FERDINAND DE ROTHSCHILD (B3).
