IN 1086 MANOR, FORMERLY PART OF QUEEN EDITH'S LANDS, WAS HELD BY WILLIAM SON OF OGER OF THE BISHOP OF BAYEUX. AFTER HIS FORFEITURE, HELD BY CROWN, PRESUMABLY OF HONOUR OF WALLINGFORD...PURCHASED BY ISAAC D'ISRAELI IN 1847, SUCEEDED BY HIS SON BENJAMIN, CREATED VISCOUNT HUGHENDEN (B1).
