Description

Plan Form - L shaped.
Remnant of larger complex (B1).
Small, 2 storeys. L shaped plan. Built C17, probably 1698 (B5).
During renovations date 1698 seen carved on W stone jamb of fireplace, perhaps reset (B7).
Grade II. Farmhouse. Dated 1698 with C18 east wing. Witchert, colourwashed and rendered on a rubble plinth. Thatched roofs, with tiled lean-to and valley in angle of wings at rear. West range of 3 bays; east of 2 in letter - L plan. One and a half storeys. West elevation has board door between right hand bays. 3-light casements to flanking bays. Left bay has board door only. Central 3-light eaves dormer. Stack between left bays and to right half-hipped gable. South gable timber framed with brick infill. At rear of left hand bay of main west range is reused early C18 oak framed sash, perhaps salvaged from Wincheden Priory when Gothicised c1790. Interior: fireplace of right hand room has date inscribed on stone jamb. 'W 1 1698' . RCHM I.112, MON.10 (B8).
