Description

SEVERAL PITS SEEN BY R F H SUMMERS IN N SECTION OF PIT WEST OF TAPLOW STATION. PITS CUT INTO UNDERLYING GRAVEL. 1 PIT CONTAINED IRON AGE FINDS. (SKETCH PLAN LOCATING PIT APPROX AT NGR, & SKETCH SECTION OF PIT)(B6).


Iron Age 'A' saddle quern with grain rubber and sherds. RB sherds above. (SU 913814) Acc No 110.47 (B20).

SU 915814 Rubbish pits, coins and pottery including sherd of Samian (DR 37) from gravel pit N of Taplow railway station. Acc No 169.62 (B21 and B23)

Gravel pit now disused; no further information (B22)
