1788, 1825 MAPS MARK WATERMILL HERE (B6-7).
'LORDS MILL, CORN' AT NGR (B8).
C17 WITH ADJOINING HOUSE (01:0 00). RESTORED C19, CEASED USING WATER POWER C1914. USED AS SEED STORE, NOW DERELICT BUT MAY BE MACHINERY INSIDE (B1-5).
C18 MILLERS NAMED (B9).
PART OF CHESHAM HIGHAM MANOR? (B2).
Grade II. Late C16 or early C17, perhaps incorporating earlier structure. Red brick with cement rendered front, 3 gables to old tiled roof. 2 storeys and attics, lattice casement window to each gable. Lord's Mill and Lord's Mill House and barn form a group (B10).
NOW DEMOLISHED (B11).
LORDS MILL WAS VALUED AT 10 SHILLINGS IN 1086 & IS THE OLDEST MILL ON THIS PART OF THE CHESS. THE BUILDINGS WERE RECONSTRUCTED IN 1660. THE MILLER IN 1783 WAS JAMES TUFFNEL. IN 1833 IT WAS OCCUPIED BY CHARLOTTE FOX & ACQUIRED BY GEORGE ROSE OF AMY MILL IN 1864. OWNED BY W E WRIGHT & SONS IN 1935 (B12).
