"Roman structural remains, on the site of the motte and bailey (SP 80 NW 18, SP 82770639), including foundations, tesselated floors, wall plaster, tiles, with Samian ware, coins, and small objects, have been found over a fairly large area in and since 1821, more especially in excavations made in 1855. They evidently denote a house of considerable size, but no plans have been preserved." Some smaller objects are now in Bucks County Museum. The structural remains are now underground (B2).
The report suggests that air photograph and surface indications "surmise a structure of advanced corridor type". North of the spring on area of 3rd-4th century occupation was found. (Nothing visible on APs (RAF 1950). The whole area around the motte (which is wooded) is under permanent pasture. No Ro building material was found during an extensive perambulation of the Md site (B12).
Nothing visible on OS AP's 71 383 676-678 (B13).
