Description

LIPSCOMB BELIEVES SEDRUP = SOUTHWARP = SOUTHCOTE. VCH - NAME SOUTHCOTE NOW LOST. ENGLISH PLACE NAME SOCIETY DOES NOT EQUATE SEDRUP WITH SOUTHCOTE. CONFUSED DOCUMENTARY HISTORY FOR SEDRUP (B1).
RECENT DESERTION/SHRINKAGE - OF 7 HOUSES IN 1921 ONLY 3 REMAIN (B3).
William son of Constantine holds 1 virgate of land and 6 acres in Southcote and Sweeting from him. Land for 1/2 plough. The value is and always was 6s. Wulfric, Archbishop Stigand's man, held this land; he could sell (B6).
Conservation Area designated on 19th July 1989 and reviewed in October 2012. See appraisal document for detail (B7).
