Description
The National Trust's Survey of Stowe undertaken in 1989 notes the tree lined drive sweeping from the Corinthian Arch to the Boycott Pavillions which was built in 1817 to replace the older drive which roughly coincides with the Dadford Road (1).
The English Heritage survey of Stowe undertaken in 2001 notes a slight linear bank (centred at SP66843685), some 128 m long, 2-2.5m wide and 0.4m high following the line of the Queen's drive. It has tree stumps and tree holes on it or very close to it. At the eastern end near the Corinthian Arch the carriage drive is defined by two scarps 0.7m high forming a level trackway 7.5m wide. Two small semi-circular bays may be passing places. The Queen's Drive was built to commemorate a royal visit in 1845 (2).
