Description
Dimensions - Length 410cm, Width 165cm.
Plan Form - Rectangular.
Corner of kiln cut through by footings trench for bungalow [255 Botley Road]. Excavations showed 3 phases to structure: 1) rectangular tile kiln constructed of peghole roof tile, central spine with springing arches, floor 1.65m below modern ground level. Kiln measured 4.10m x 1.65m internally.
Subsequently shortened & later a sub-rectangular pottery kiln inserted into the further end & utilising preceding structure [see 0561201000]. Full excavation report, description, pottery catalogue & discussion of finds etc (B1).
