Description
POTTERY KILN SITE FOUND BY FIELDWALKING IN FIELD, CENTRE C170M SSE OF CHURCH. POTTERY RECOVERED WAS TYPICAL BRILL/BOARSTALL FABRIC. PROBABLY 2 PERIODS OF KILN ACTIVITY, THE LATEST HAVING A PROVISIONAL DATE LATER C15-EARLY C16. THIS LATER PERIOD MAY BE COMPLICATED BY SETTLEMENT, W EDGE OF FIELD. Concentration in this location = approx 200 sherds per survey square (B1).
A field survey carried out by June Stong noted 3 kiln sites, a well, and up to 12 house platforms in this field (B3).
