Hour-glass perforation

A drilled hole can be conical in section. Two such holes drilled from opposite faces will give a perforation of hour-glass, or biconical form. A quartzite mace with an hour-glass perforation was found at Colstrope Farm in Hambledon. It is probably prehistoric in date.
