Description

AT LEAST 230 SHERDS OF EARLY IRON AGE (IRON AGE A). PITS 2 & 4 HAVE IA & RB POTTERY, SUGGESTING REDEPOSITION IN ROMAN TIMES OF EARLIER MATERIAL. BOTH COARSE & FINE WARES, MANY PARALLELED AT CHINNOR & BLEDLOW SITES (FURTHER DESCRIPTION, CATALOGUE & ILLUS) (B1)
Some potsherds of iron age A type were found in the area of cropmarks at Thorney, which is a Scheduled Ancient Monument. Some of these were collected from a ditch presumably no later than the iron age. They were probably from the ring ditch at TQ 0409 7960 (B5)
