EDWARD THE CONFESSOR. MANOR HELD BY 1 OF KING'S THEGNS. AFTER 1066 PART OF LANDS GRANTED TO WALTER GIFFARD, MADE EARL OF BUCKINGHAM. 1164 DEATH OF 2ND EARL, BECAME CROWN PROPERTY. PARTS HELD BY MISSENDEN ABBEY. DISSOLUTION, GRANTED 1541 TO MICHAEL DORMER. 1579-1580 SOLD TO THE HAMPDENS (B3).
