A FOOTING ADJOINING THE SOUTH SIDE OF THE TOWER PROVIDES 'SLENDER' EVIDENCE FOR THE EXISTENCE OF A CLOISTER. THIS WOULD REINFORCE THE THEORY THAT ST MARY'S WAS ONCE A MINSTER? (B14).
