Description

FONT; DATED C 1160. CUP-SHAPED BOWL, BAND OF FOLIAGE ORNAMENT ON UPPER PART & FLUTING ON LOWER. STEM IS A TORUS WITH A DOUBLE LINE OF ZIGZAG ORNAMENT. BASE RESEMBLES INVERTED SCALLOPED CAPITAL WITH FOLIAGE ORNAMENT. 22 EXAMPLES OF THE 'AYLESBURY GROUP' OF FONTS IN THE CHILTERN HILLS AREA (B1-3).
