CIRCULAR CROPMARK SHOWING CLEARLY ROUND LOW HILL, STRONGLY RESEMBLING IN FORM AN IRON AGE HILLFORT, BUT UNUSUAL, AND POSSIBILITY OF A GEOLOGICAL EXPLANATION MAY BE CONSIDERED. FIELD WORK BY MRS J STRONG, M E DAVIES & OTHERS FINDS SPARSE MEDIEVAL POTTERY & TILE ONLY. MRS STRONG BELIEVES SITE TO BE GIFFARDS CASTLE (B1).
TRIAL EXCAVATION - RESULTS NEGATIVE. MRS STRONG NOW BELIEVES CROPMARKS HAVE ARISEN FROM A GEOLOGICAL FORMATION (B2).
