Description

Plan Form - Round.
4 gold rose nobles of Edward IV, 1461-1483, (SP 81771386) In the course of alterations to Ceely House, Church Street, in 1952, for conversion as an extension to Bucks County Museum premises, four gold coins of Edward IV were found by workmen in removing a cupboard. They were rose nobles probably struck between 1461 and 1483, and were treated as 'treasure trove'. The coins were found when a large wall cupboard was removed from the basically late 15th century house. As the coins were found separately, but in the same small area, it is assumed that they must have slipped from their original hiding-place during the work. At the same findspot a bone consisting of a seal what might be called a marker, of considerable antiquity, was also found, and thought to have been deposited at the same time as the coins (B2).
