Description

SHORT STRETCH OF STONE ?FOUNDATION WALL FOUND IN FOUNDATION TRENCHES OF NEW HOUSE 'GAME KEEP' IN 1975 (B8).
Foundations of a limestone wall, at least 0.8m wide, aligned NW-SE found during watching brief carried out by John Moore Heritage Services in December 2004. The wall survived to a height of 4 courses and was built of rough blocks measuring from 0.3m X 0.15m X 0.25m to 0.5m X 0.3m X 0.2m in size, with smaller rubble packing. The SE side was roughly finished. The wall probably relates to the wall found earlier during construction of the 'Game Keep', suggesting that a building lay mostly under 'Game Keep' (B13).
