Description

Finds recovered by Watford Underwater Club during excavation of well sediments (B1).
Finds include 27 clay pipe fragments, 4 knife fragments, various metal fittings and agricultural implements, 2 cowbells, 7 fragments of pottery bottles and jugs, 6 glass bottle fragments, 8 coins and tokens, 2 horseshoes, 1 shoe and a shoe fitting, and various domestic items including wooden bowls, metal buttons and sewing equipment, a bone comb, lead shot and 9 marbles. The majority of the finds appear to be 17th, 18th and 19th century in date. See detailed list (B3).
