Description

FROM THE RED BRICKEARTH WERE PICKED SHORT LEVALLOIS TYPE FLAKES. SHARP & FRESH, THESE RANK WITH THOSE FROM THE SAME DEPOSIT IN PURSER'S & MANSION LANE PITS (B2).
Site mentioned in English Rivers Palaeolithic Survey (B5-6).


TQ 044804. A Palaeolithic handaxe from Reed's Brickworks Pit, and possibly more material, is in the British Museum, together with another handaxe from Iver Court Farm, adjacent to the brickworks (B7).
In an area of development and reclamation, part of the area of the former pit is still owned by the Reed family. Mr E Reed (a) confirmed the location of the pit, and indicated on the OS 6" its former maximum extent. No further information on Iver Court Farm find (B8).
