Description
Dimensions - Length 1km.
Plan Form - Linear.
Possible park pale. APs show raised trackway pre-dating ridge & furrow. (A track in this position is shown on OS 1-inch map, 1820-30). No extant paling found. Portion shown on AP which is not mered to modern detail crosses an area largely under plough (B4).
In the first year (1558 AD) of Elizabeth I's reign, George Tyrell was licensed to impark an area of 500 acres at Thornton; it has now been long disparked (B1).
Park shown in the area between the churches of Thornton and Beachampton - Saxton Map 1574 (B5).
Possible park pale between (SP 76373521) and (SP 77683615) APs show raised trackway pre-dating ridge and furrow. (Track shown in this position on original OS 1" 1820-30) (B6 and B7).
