Description
Grade II. Lodge cottage. Circa 1880-90. Probably by W. Taylor of Bierton for Alice de Rothschild. Coursed rubble stone, some roughcast and half- timbering to upper floor and gables. Tiled roofs, brick chimney with stone bands, another chimney to east with irregular stonework to base. Picturesque. 2 storeys and attic, approximately 2 bays. S. side has central gabled projection with gabled and jettied first floor balcony, door below, and wooden attic windows above. Another gabled projection to left side has first floor verandah with turned wooden balusters. Lean-to curves around N.W. corner. Large semi-circular projection to east. Stone mullion windows to stone parts, wooden casements in half-timbering. Several terracotta plaques with Rothschild badges and mottoes (B12).
