Description

Grade II. Lodge, now house. Circa 1880-90. Possibly by George Devey or Taylor of Bierton, for Alice de Rothschild. Rubble stone, brick, some ornamental half-timbering and roughcast to upper floors. Patterned tile roof, brick chimneys, one with a row of diagonal shafts, another with 4 variously patterned circular shafts. 2 storeys and attic, 3 bays. S. front has central half-hipped projection with ornamental bargeboards and first floor verandah with turned balusters. Both main floors have central double doors and flanking diamond leaded casements. Similar 4-light attic casement with carved figures on struts below. Narrow outer bays have stone mullion windows to ground floor and small gables in roof, the right with paired casement. Left bay also has small gable over first floor window (B12).
