Description
Excavation carried out by Oxford Archaeological Unit in 1996 in advance of construction of the Eton Rowing Lake, in 'Area 6'. The SE ring ditch was found not to contain a central burial, but three cremations were found just inside the inner lip of the ditch - one of which was accompanied by a Middle Bronze Age decorated globular vessel. Outside the ditch to the NE were three cremation pits in a line. There were two other satelite cremations, one approx 4m to the E and one approx 8m to the SE. A further unaccompanied cremation was found approx 6m to the S of the of the SW (double) ring ditch (B12).
