Description

A MINE AT THE CHALFONT KILN & POTTERY CO (OWNED IN 1897 BY F & E SAUNDERS) WAS USED TO DIG CHALK & FIRE CLAY. MANAGER JAMES BATES (B6). A SECTION AT THE CHALFONT POTTERY HAS BEEN DESCRIBED AS OF MOTTLED CLAY, 2.75M, ON SAND OF VARIOUS COLOURS, 6.40M, ON 0.60M OF GREENSAND (B3).
