Description

IN GROUNDS OF WOOBURN HOUSE IS A FINE BARN WITH QUEEN-POST TRUSSED ROOF (B4).
Grade II. Barn, part used as garage. C17, altered late C18. Timber framed, with framing exposed in second bay but otherwise cased in brick, whitewashed between entries. Old tile roof. 7 bays. Bays 1 and 5 have late C18 hipped projecting cart entries. Bays between have lean-to shelter with pantile roof. Right bays have brick catslide projection. Interior has exposed wall posts and some curved wall braces; large curved braces to tie beams; double purlin roof with heavy curved queen posts to lower purlins and later queen strut trusses to upper purlins; some curved wind-braces (B6).
