Plan Form - LINEAR
DITCH 1 RAN ALONG THE ENTIRE BOURBON ST SIDE OF THE SITE. ?JOINED DITCH 2 UNDER BOURBON ST, TO SW? ( PLAN BI04 P392). MUCH DESTROYED BY CELLARING & CON TRACTOR'S OPERATIONS. SPARSE POTTERY IN FILL- NONE LATER THAN C10? 1ST CONCRETE EVIDENCE FOR DEFENCE S IN AYLESBURY?(DISCUSSION BI04)P433-6.SEE CASS352.

"Commercial excavations on the corner of Temple Street and Bourbon Street (SP 81861373), Aylesbury, produced evidence of the medieval town ditch, of which there appears to have been no previous record" (B7).
A late Saxon defensive ditch and a possible Mediaeval ditch suggest that this is the line of the town's defences (B4).
