2 VERY RUDE ROMAN URNS OF UNBAKED POTTERY FOUND DURING WORKS ON G.W.R NEAR ITS ABUTMENT ON TAPLOW. THEY CONTAINED 400-500 ROMAN SILVER COINS AMONGST WHICH WERE IMPERIAL COINS OF MID C1 AD TO LATE C2 (EMPERORS LISTED). PROBABLY BURIED IN REIGN OF AURELIUS, OR EARLY COMMODUS (B7-8,B12).
Subsequent information obtainined during visit to site by C Roach suggests there may been about 800 coins, 500 in one pot and 300 in the other (B19).
