Description

MUCH CORRODED. IN LIPSCOMB'S ACCOUNT IT WAS FOUND IN A FLINT CIST (01:000) WITH HUMAN BONES (00:000). THE LABOURER WHO FOUND IT SAID IT HAD A WOODEN HANDLE C.180CM LONG WHICH CRUMBLED TO DUST, & 10-13CM OF THE HOLLOW IRON HANDLE BROKE OFF ON LIFTING. THE AXE WAS BOUGHT BY MR JOHN NORRIS (B1-2).
