Plan Form - L SHAPED
AN EARLY MANOR HOUSE? A COMPLEX OF BUILDINGS, PATHS, YARD &C DISCOVERED & RESCUE EXCAVATION CARRIED OUT, AHEAD OF DEVELOPMENT. IN PRIME POSITION- NEAR CHURCH & ON MAIN VILLAGE STREET. DATED C12-C14, DISMANTLED SOON AFTER. EARLIER OCCUPATION- prehistoric flint, ROMAN, SAXON, C11-C12 (BI3). NGR TO SITE (BI3).



SP 806342. Worked flints, RB sherds, two coins of Constantine 2 (AD 337-40), one of Trajan (AD 98-117) together with Anglo-Saxon sherds found during excavation of medieval manor site (B2).
SP 80583413 Site of manor house excavated by D C Mynard in 1968 (B5).
The site of the manor house and surrounding area is now developed. D Mynard confirms the authy 2 siting. The excavation by B Griffiths showed the house was built in the 13th century and occupied till the 16th century when it was demolished. The finds listed by authy 1 were residual (B6).
