Description
SP 98200183. A NUMBER OF FLINT ARTEFACTS WERE FOUND BY DR K P OAKLEY, INCLUDING AXE (01:000), CORE (02:000) AND FLAKES (03:000).(B1,B2).
A Mesolithic tranchet axe, core and four waste flakes were found in a sandpit on the edge of Cowcroft Wood in 1929. Tranchet axe and core now in British Museum (Nat Hist) (Nos E 4745 and E 4746. LITTLE DOUBT THAT AXE, CORE AND 3 FLAKES ORIGINALLY IN ASSOCIATION (B3).
At SP 98200183 is a shallow depression, presumably the disused sandpit where the Me finds were discovered. No further finds (B4).
