Type and Period (2)

  • OPEN FIELD (Medieval to Post-Medieval - 1066 AD to 1798 AD)
  • RIDGE AND FURROW (Medieval to Post-Medieval - 1066 AD to 1798 AD)

Description

EXTENSIVE RIDGE & FURROW AROUND DMV SITE. EARTHWORKS STAND TO GREATEST HEIGHT AT EAST (B7).
SCHEDULED: SAM 29414. Scheduled area includes some ridge and furrow (B7).
A rapid survey and an assessment of aerial photographic evidence undertaken in 1997 revealed the extensive earthworks associated with the former village/settlement to the east of the manor, and also the remains of ridge and furrow in the fields to the north east (B11).

A rapid examination of air photography [in 1994] shows Ridge and Furrow, visible as earthworks and soilmarks, around Waldridge Manor, presumably associated with Waldridge DMV (B17).
