Description
Barn at Great Missenden Abbey. A brick built barn of circa 1700, the floor is a later insertion. The building is of five bays and three of the original roof trusses remain. The present arrangement of trusses is a result of alteration, the pegging indicates that originally the roof had queen struts only between the rafters and the beams. The king struts and curved braces, making the scissor-braced pattern, are later reinforcements (B1).
