Description

A mill pond situated near to the Sawmill House, West Wycombe Park. A pond is shown in this location on Jolivet's map of 1752 but the Sawmill House had not built at this time, so its purpose was presumably a purely aesthetic one, forming part of a carefully planned vista looking eastward from the pleasure grounds. Sometime between 1767 and 1849 the Sawmill House was constructed, after which the pond played a functional role as the header pond for a working timber mill (B12-14).
