Description

Vale Park swimming pool opened in 1935. The architect was WH Taylor. (5).
The pool was demolished in 1999. A new sports complex that included an outdoor pool was put up on [near] the site. Julia Wise notes "The old pool was always very popular in the summer. There's a photograph with caption (Plate 121) in High Hanley and Julian Hunt (1993) 'Aylesbury: A Pictorial History' ." (6).
The outline of the NW half of the pool complex described above can be seen as a parchmark on aeral photographs taken in July 2010 indicating survival of the foundations beneath playing fields (7).
